The painting “Sunset in Trogir” was created right in the Croatian town of Trogir. I watched this sunset for nine whole months, and every single day was different. Every evening was breathtaking, majestic, and absolutely perfect. In autumn and winter, the sun sets in different hues than in summer, the contrast of the muted palette in the quiet surroundings emphasizes and lets the colors overflowing behind the horizon truly shine. It is an event worth not missing, every single day!

The experience was heightened by the clinking of ropes against the masts in the nearby Seget marina, which only intensified the „nautical“ atmosphere each evening. I watched this sunset from my window or balcony perhaps a hundred times, and it was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places I have ever lived. Not everyone gets such an opportunity, I might never have it again myself, so it wasn’t a question of if I would paint it, but rather how many more times I will.

For all of you, landlocked and daydreaming a bit desperately of the sea and the salt on your sandals every single day, this painting is for you. It brings peace, embodied in the soft tones of the sweet, approaching summer. This is what waiting looks like. We can wait together:)

The original piece is a watercolor on 100% cotton Saunders Waterford paper. It was painted with Van Gogh watercolors, and the final layer was refined with Derwent pastel pencils. The painting has the character of a Polaroid shot, as I created a distinct white border (an asymmetrical one) at the top and bottom, allowing the image to resonate as a memory, a memory of what is yet to come.

Maľba “Sunset in Trogir” vznikla ako inak priamo v Chorvátskom meste Trogir. Na tento západ slnka som sa pozerala celých 9 mesiacov a každý deň bol iný. Každý večer bol dychvyrážajúci, pompézny a absolútne dokonalý. Na jeseň a v zime slnko zapadá inými farbami ako v lete, kontrast farebnej palety mĺkveho okolia podčiarkuje a necháva vyniknúť farby pretekajúce za horizont. Je to udalosť, ktorú sa oplatí nezmeškať každý deň! Zážitok bol posilnený cinkotaním lán na sťažňoch v neďalekej Segetskej maríne, čo “morský” zážitok každý večer len umocňovalo. Tento západ slnka som videla z okna, balkóna hádam sto krát, a bolo to rozhodne jedno z najkrajších miest, na ktorých som mohla bývať. Nie každý má takúto príležitosť, ani ja asi už mať nebudem, preto nebolo otázkou, či ho raz namaľujme, otázkou ostáva iba, koľkokrát ho ešte namaľujme:)

Pre všetkých vás, uveznených vnútrozemcov, ktorí platonicky a trochu zúfalo pomýšľate na more a soľ na sandáloch každý jeden deň, toto je maľba aj pre vás. Prináša pokoj, zhmotnený v jemných tónoch sladkého blížiaceho sa leta. Takto vyzerá čakanie. Môžeme čakať spolu:)

Originálna maľba je akvarel na Saunders Waterford akvarelovým papieri zo 100% bavlny. Je to akvarelová maľba maľovaný farbami značky Van Gogh a posledná vrstva je doladená suchým pastelom v ceruzku značky Derwent pastel.

Maľba má charakter polaroid záberu, nakoľko som v hornej a spodnej časti spravila výrazné biele olemovanie (asimetrickú paspartu), čo necháva obraz vyznieť ako spomienku, spomienku na to, čo ešte len príde..
