It is said that if an artist lives on an island for some time, it is only a matter of time before the island itself becomes their motif. Regardless of their usual subjects, the island enters and fills the artist’s mind so intensely that they feel compelled to capture it on paper, stone, or wood..

This A4 watercolor was created during my stay directly on the island of Brač, near the city of Split in Croatia. I spent the entire spring on the island, inspired not only by the April citrus trees in fruit but, of course, by the endless sea. The painting depicts a harbor and a fishing boat, like the dozens anchored in Supetar. They rest gently on the surface, rocking noisy seagulls on their backs.

In spring, the island is windy and the sea is lively. There is peace and silence, the resort rests before the season begins. The cafes are empty, and you can hear the swaying of the boats, the sound of an approaching ferry, and the church bells. A very intense experience, captured on paper:)

Hovorí sa, že ak umelec žije nejaký čas na ostrove, je len otázkou času, kedy sa ostrov stane aj jeho motívom.

Bez ohľadu na to, aké sú jeho klasické námety, ostrov vstúpi a vyplní myšlienky umelca tak intenzívne, že ich musí zachytiť na papier, kameň, drevo.. Akvarel o veľkosti A4 vznikol pri mojom pobyte priamo na ostrove Brač, neďaleko mesta Split v Chorvátsku. Na ostrove som strávila celú jar a motivovali ma nie len plodiace aprílové citrusy ale samozrejme aj nekonečné more. Na obraze je zachytený prístav a rybársky čln, ktorých v Supetare parkujú desiatky. Jemne posedávajú na hladine a hojdajú na svojich chrbtoch hlučné čajky. Na jar je ostrov veterný a more je čulé, je tam pokoj, ticho, letovisko oddychuje pred sezónou, v kaviarňach je prázdno, počuť hojdanie sa lodí, zvuk prichádzajúceho trajektu a kostolné zvony. Veľmi intenzívny zážitok. Aj na papieri:)
